General Understanding

What is Stintworth?

Stintworth is a platform that helps students and career-seekers gain real experience by working on projects with companies - without needing a traditional job or internship.

How does Stintworth work?

You join the platform, browse available projects, and match with companies offering experience in exchange for mentorship, training, or skill-building - no money changes hands.

Is Stintworth an employer or recruitment agency?

No - Stintworth is not an employer or recruiter. We simply connect people for non-paid, skills-based work exchanges.

What is a 'barter-based work experience'?

It’s a flexible exchange where you offer your time and skills in return for learning, mentorship, or real-world exposure - instead of money.

What do students gain from joining Stintworth?

Real experience, stronger CVs, new skills, industry insight, and connections - all without needing a paid job to get started.

Is this like volunteering or an internship?

Not exactly. There’s no employment contract, and you're not volunteering for a charity. It's a flexible, agreement-based exchange focused on learning and growth.

For Students / Career Seekers

Is Stintworth free to use?

It’s free for students to sign up and access the platform. Career-seekers pay a small monthly fee to take part in live projects - this helps ensure quality, commitment, and continued development of the platform. Companies pay to list opportunities.

Do I need previous experience to join?

Not at all. Stintworth is designed to help you get that first experience, no matter where you're starting from.

What industries can I get experience in?

We cover a wide range - including marketing, tech, design, business, content creation, and more. New industries are added regularly.

Do I get paid for the work I do?

No - these are unpaid, non-monetary exchanges. You gain experience, training, and mentorship instead of money.

What do I get in return for my time?

You’ll build your CV, develop real skills, and grow your professional network - all through hands-on experience.

How do I know I won’t be exploited?

Every project includes a clear barter agreement, flexible hours, and defined expectations. You can leave at any time, and both sides must agree to fair value.

Can international students use Stintworth?

Yes - but due to visa rules, international students can only access our simulation projects, not live projects with companies.

What happens if I want to end a project early?

You can leave any project at any time - no penalties, no pressure. It's all about experience, not obligation.

What is a Stintworth Project Simulation?

It’s a self-paced, industry-style task designed to help you gain experience without working with a real company. Great for building your portfolio and staying legally compliant.

For Companies / Employers

Why would a company use Stintworth?

To access motivated early-career talent, support student development, and complete flexible, low-risk projects - all without traditional hiring.

What are the legal implications of using Stintworth?

Because no money is exchanged, there’s no employment relationship or obligation to pay minimum wage. Barter agreements are signed to protect both sides.

Is this unpaid work?

Yes - but it's not free labour. Students receive clear, non-monetary value like mentorship, skill-building, and portfolio experience.

Do I need to be an established company to post a project?

No - startups, freelancers, and small teams are welcome. As long as you're a registered company that will offer genuine learning value, you can take part.

How are students vetted or matched?

Students apply to your project through the platform. You review their profile, skills, and goals - and only move forward if it’s a good fit.
